GREEN Workshops Biodynamics Research About Us BDAA Workshops

In GREEN we're looking at various methods to discover what helps plants to grow, such as ...

  • how the cultivation of the soil affects the growth of the plants

Control

Control - is required to give validity to the experiment.  It represents what would happen if we did nothing and is used to compare against the other plots.  It is as close to nature as possible with minimal human intervention i.e. no digging & no compost.

No-Dig

No Dig - Instead of digging the soil, compost and other mulches are used to cover it allowing the biology to incorporate it into the soil structure.

Single-Dig

Single dig - The soil is dug to the depth of one spade deep and the compost is incorporated at the same time, mixing it in to the soil structure.

Double-Dig

Double dig - The soil is dug to the depth of two spades.  The first spades depth is removed.  Then compost is incorporated into the second spades depth, mixing it into the sub soil structure.

  • use of manure and compost
  • use of biodynamic preparations

We use ...

  • appearance of the crop
  • taste - raw & cooked
  • smell
  • chromatography
  • soil analysis
  • kirlian photography

to evaluate the crops.
